This one-year course in documentary practice engages in creating social impact through film. It recognizes the unique role that documentaries play in society and the power of high quality storytelling. The goal is to provide graduates with the tools and the confidence to become effective members of the social impact community.
The curriculum is practice led and focuses on diverse films with the potential to connect with audiences on a global level. Built around a series of distinct modules, students develop and create a major project, devise impact and engagement campaigns and pitch to an industry panel.
The course draws on an extensive network of organisations and individuals within the documentary arena due to the school’s close partnership with the Bertha Foundation, DocHouse and BritDoc.
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Research, shoot and edit your own documentary and social impact films
- Investigate relevant funding and distribution channels for a particular project
- Effectively develop and pitch a variety of documentary project
