This discipline combines skills derived from chemical process engineering and from specific domains of biotechnology in order to develop, design and operate processes for producing high-value biotechnological products.
The potential area of deployment for bioprocess engineers is vast: it ranges from the pharmaceutical or food-processing industry (vaccines, biopharmaceuticals, enzymes…) to the chemical and energy/oil industry (bioplastics, biofuels…), including the environmental sector (bioremediation). Typical job opportunities will be at the level of project manager or quality manager in the R&D, industrialization or production departments of these industries.
The post-master degree (French title: “Mastère Spécialisé Génie des Procédés Biotechnologiques”) is a full-time, one-year program (75 ECTS), accredited by the “Coférence des Grandes Ecoles” (CGE).
The programme includes formal teaching (mostly in French and some in English), an internship (duration: 4 months minimum), and the preparation of an individual thesis.
It is aimed at graduates and professionals who already have a Master's degree, and want to expand their knowledge, acquire more experience and specialise in bioprocess engineering.
The post-master degree in Bioprocess Engineering is jointly offered by CPE Lyon and ENSIC (Nancy).
Academic partners including ISARA, ENSAIA, ENSIACET, Univ.Lorraine, Univ.Lyon 1, IUT Lyon 1, LEGTA and industrial partners from the pharmaceutical, Bioremediation and Energy Industry contribute to the vocational focus, rigour and technical nature of the degree programme.
