Illustration is a powerful instrument of graphic expression and nowadays plays an essential part in contemporary visual communication. In the One Year Course in Illustration and Visual Communication, students will learn to do research, experiment and develop their vision and abilities to become successful professionals, applying contemporary illustration to different spheres of visual communication.
Guided by established active professionals, they will tackle the main technical principles, processes and styles of contemporary illustration in a practical way, applying what they learn to their own projects and with real clients, and always seeking to promote their creative potential as illustrators. By the end of the year, students will be able to create complex illustration projects independently, from the conceptual phrase to their subsequent development and materialisation.
The One Year Courses, which are semi-attendance-based, are directed towards the student’s rapid professionalization, with a prestigious team of active teachers who, as directors of the project, will give students a clear view of the industry, help them to develop their portfolio and discover the best ways of understanding and tackling the disciplines with the best prospects in the sphere of visual production.
The One Year Course in Illustration and Visual Communication consists of 60 IED* credits structured in the following way:
An attendance based module(384 hours and 48 IED* credits), whose purpose is to apply in our installations, along with outstanding professionals, the keys of the didactic programme combining study, research and the production of projects.
An online and distance module(12 IED* credits), which can be accessed through the e-learning platform of the IED Madrid Campus, which includes the studying of subjects that complement the attendance-based module and the production of the final project.
The IED credit is the internal quantifying and didactic validation system of the IED Madrid. Each credit reflects the load of online or attendance-based classes, seminars, study sessions and the achievement of assessment exams. Each IED credit is equivalent to 8 teaching hours for attendance-based modules. For the online modules they reflect a workload of between 16 and 20 hours.
