Frameworks for fusion and feasibility
The Mergers & Acquisitions programme examines all the key stages in the acquisitions process. You'll discuss the role that acquisitions play in corporate strategy and consider the variety of motives for engaging in acquisition activities. You'll learn about the valuation of acquisition targets and the impact of acquisitions on reported performance. In addition, you'll explore post-acquisition priorities and how to plan and implement successful post-acquisition integration strategy.
The Mergers & Acquisitions programme has three major themes:
- Strategic role of acquisitions – different logics for engaging in acquisitions, acquisitions and competitive advantage, tests for a good mergers and acquisitions strategy
- Finance and valuation – the valuation of acquisitions targets, different forms of financing, the impact of mergers and acquisitions on reported performance
- Post-acquisition integration – post acquisition priorities, different approaches to post-acquisition integration, planning and implementing a successful post-acquisition integration strategy.
The programme works with comprehensive case studies, linking the strategic, financial and human aspects of the acquisitions process. It's an intensive 'hands-on' programme, so whilst preparatory reading is necessary, it allows participants to get to grips with the big issues quickly.
Teaching methods are varied and include lectures, plenary discussions, work in syndicate groups and periods of individual study and preparation. Numbers are limited, allowing a close working relationship to develop between participants and tutors, facilitating the sharing of ideas, experiences and concerns.
