This program provides critical knowledge and skills for individuals to manage business operations efficiently. The International Advanced Diploma in Business - Online also aims to develop students in their strategic thinking and approaches and analytical abilities which are essential for the new bleed of managers and executives. This course covers some of the leadership knowledge and practical skills and extends the work-related focus and theories from the International Diploma in Business and Business Administration courses.

Students would be able to identify and analyse business problems, formulate business plans and policies from a strategic perspective, and implement them effectively. In addition, the program cultivates a global perspective on how international business is conducted, creates and awareness of potential business opportunities, and the impact of globalization on management functions. International Advanced Diploma in Business -Online will give the students a head-start in business administration and management in today’s highly globalized economy.

The International Advanced Diploma in Business -Online consists of 4 modules:

  1. Operations Management
  2. Marketing Management
  3. Leadership

1. Operations Management

Module Aims:

This course has been developed to promote an understanding of key concepts of quality management as it applies to today’s organizations. Students will be exposed to the different frameworks of studying operations management and production as organizational functions.

Students will also learn strategic approaches to competitive advantage and global operations strategy options as well as what is total quality management in organizations.

Topics covered include the survey of forecasting methods, production planning, inventory management, quality management, project management, supply chain management and JIT manufacturing.

Expected Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course it is expected that students will be able to:

  1. Explain the importance of operations management in terms of international competitiveness;
  2. Demonstrate and understanding of the critical functions of operations managers and the integration with marketing and financial functions;
  3. Outline and apply three traditional ways of viewing POQ: systems; organization function; strategic, operating, and control decision-making
  4. Demonstrate a critical understanding of production and operations management in both services and manufacturing;
  5. Provide solutions to common problems facedby operations managers.

2. Marketing Management

Module Aims:

This course has been developed to promote an understanding and describes the features and purposes of marketing management and application of marketing principles in organisations. The students will be exposed to the different framework of studying marketing management capturing insights connecting consumers.

A deeper understanding of organization’s links with customers requires some knowledge of marketing principles and learners will be able to understand how marketing principles are important in the achievement of organization’s marketing plans. Having an understanding of marketing principles will help the learners to identify potential customers, place and price their products. This module enables the learners to identify future promotional opportunities.

Learners will gain an understanding of marketing principles and strategies that can help managers to achieve marketing and organisational goals in today’s consumer driven markets, where consumer wants are the drivers of all strategic marketing decisions.

Topics covered include the building strong brands, shaping the market offerings, delivering & communicating value, and creating successful long term growth.

3. Leadership

Module Aims:

This course has been developed to promote an understanding and development of key concepts of leadership at a non-strategic level within a changing work environment. Students will understand the controversy about differences between leadership and management. This module will help the students to understand the personal and professional skills needed for effective management and leadership.

Students will learn perspectives on effective leadership behaviour.

Topics covered include the Nature of Leadership, Managerial Traits and Skills, the Natures of Managerial Works, Perspective on Effective Leadership Behavior, Participative Leadership, Delegation and Empowerment, Early Contingency Theories of Effective Leadership, Power and Influence, Dyadic Relations, Attributions, and Followership, Charismatic and Transformational Leadership, Leading Change in Organizations, Ethical, Servant, Spiritual, and Authentic Leadership, Strategic Leadership by Top Executives, Developing Leadership Skills, Gender, Diversity, and Cross-cultural Leadership and Overview and Integration Leadership in Teams and Decisions Groups

4. Business Project

Module Aims:

This is a project base module while a student is tasked to write a comprehensive business plan. Students will learn the foundations of entrepreneurship and how to make the ideas to reality. Students will learn to examine issues associated with business planning and design a competitive business model andbuilding a solid strategic plan through a feasibility analysis and crafting a winning business plan. Students will know the importance of marketing and financial considerations in building the business plan. They will have a chance to learn different forms of business ownership.

The topic covers include the challenge of entrepreneurship, beginning considerations for building the business plan, marketing and financial considerations, putting the business plan to work.

Expected Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate the ability to provide a self-analysis in the context of an entrepreneurial career
  2. Demonstrate the ability to find an attractive market that can be reached economically
  3. Be able to create appropriate a business model
  4. Be able to plan strategiesfor pricing, manage cash flow, marketing and financial aspects
  5. Understand why going global has become an important part of small companies’ business strategies
  6. Develop a well-presented business plan
