ABOUT THE COURSE
Four-Week Directing offers a comprehensive range of screen creative skills, allowing students to explore the processes of visual storytelling whilst working with actors, interpreting scripts, devising narrative storylines and developing a deeper understanding of the technical aspects of film production. Students will be introduced to the professional skills needed to work within cinematography, sound design and editing and will focus on honing their directing skills, equipping themselves with an independent approach to the technical aspects of film production.
Through a series of practical, technical and directing exercises students will become confident practitioners in all areas of production and develop an insight into professional working practices. Industry professional tutors will acts as mentors throughout and students will also be given vital support and guidance on how to establish themselves in this vibrant and competitive industry.
BY THE END OF THE COURSE STUDENTS WILL:
- Be able to tell a dynamic narrative story on-screen
- Know how to use a professional, industry-standard camera
- Understand how to ‘shoot for the edit’ and edit a dramatic scene
- Know how to manage a crew and direct using correct on-set protocol
- Know how to record sound and use it creatively to tell a story
- Develop an understanding of the grammar of film and visual storytelling
- Have developed a scene for their show-reel
Minimum Age: 18 at start of course
Entry Requirements: Our Four-Week Directing course is open enrolment and there are no entry requirements. However in order to get the most out of the course, you should be able to both speak and write in English to a reasonable standard.
