This unique crime scene investigation course (CSI) prepares you for a range of careers in law enforcement, the criminal justice system and laboratory-based professions, including as a Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO) or a Police Officer.

Providing training in the most up-to-date methods of crime scene forensic theory and practice, this course provides the skills employers demand.

It includes practical laboratory sessions as well as the opportunity to participate in field exercises, role-play scenarios with police staff and forensic projects, including obtaining forensic evidence and presenting in a court of law.

Our replica crime scenes enable you to gain lots of practical experience obtaining forensic evidence from a range of scenarios, including household and fire settings.

Assessments

Assessment is predominately based on coursework, consisting of practical crime scene examinations, laboratory experiments, essays, presentations and multiple-choice questions. As well as the above assessment methods, you will also sit a written exam.

What's next

Almost 80% of graduates from this course gain employment within law enforcement and the Criminal Justice System. You can pursue a range of careers, including Crime Scene Investigator, Border Force Agency Officer, Fraud Investigator, Police Constable and Forensic Scientist. Many of our graduates gain employment with a UK Police Force.

Entry Requirements

160 UCAS points from one of the following:

  • 2 A Levels at Grade C, including Science
  • BTEC National/ Extended Diploma or Certificate in a related subject
  • Advanced GNVQ with Merit
  • A recognised Access to Higher Education Certificate in a related subject.

In addition:

  • 4 GCSEs at Grade C, including English Language and Mathematics and Science or equivalent
  • Students for which English is a second language are required to pass the IELTS test achieving a minimum of level 6.

Applicants who do not meet these entry criteria will be considered based on equivalent qualifications, previous experience, a College assessment and an applicant interview.
