This course will equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to conduct environmental sampling,testing and monitoring in most industry sectors. You will also learn how to assist environmental scientists, engineers and planners with site assessment, minimising environmental impacts of processes and remediation/rehabilitation of sites.

Units

Students must complete a total number of 20 units which comprise of 11core units plus 9 elective units. Electives are determined by the Institute you are enrolled at. Core units are :

  • Implement environmental management plans and procedures
  • Apply an understanding of environmental principles to a site
  • Process and present environmental data
  • Assist with assessing site environmental indicators
  • Assess the environmental risk or impact of a project activity or process
  • Report environmental data
  • Provide environmental information to customers
  • Implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices
  • Participate in laboratory/field workplace safety
  • Collect routine site samples
  • Undertake environmental field-based monitoring
