The Diploma in International Business (full-time) programme aims to provide students with a strong business understanding, necessary knowledge, skills, and self-confidence to work in national and international environments that are competitive, complex and transformational. The programme will equip them with the specialised tools in marketing, accounting, finance, and organization management that are necessary to understand the international dimensions of business.
Graduates of the Diploma in International Business may apply for advanced standing to the following undergraduate programmes available in SIM, subject to the respective universities’ prevailing requirements at the point of application:
Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree programmes awarded by University of Birmingham, UK – Graduates with a ‘B’ average grade and above would be able to articulate into the second year of the Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in International Business, Business Management, Business Management with Industrial Placement, and Business Management with Communications.
Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree programmes awarded by University of London, UK -Maximum exemptions will be awarded upon passing the bridging course in Economics and Mathematics (which are also offered at SIM) with at least a grade of B- (50%). Graduates of the Diploma in International Business will only have to put in two years (minimum) to graduate with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Accounting and Finance; Banking and Finance; Business and Management; Economics; Economics and Finance; or Economics and Management. The University of London is one of UK's oldest and largest universities, and these degree programmes are designed and examined by the London School of Economics and Political Science which is also a member of the Russell Group.
Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Retail Marketing awarded by University of Stirling, UK – Graduates will be eligible to apply for direct entry into the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Retail Marketing Programme.
Job Prospects After Graduation Graduates from this programme can work as executives or specialists in international-related businesses and organisations. They are expected to understand the operational processes of enterprises and have a determination of putting ideas into practice. They are customer-oriented and have an affinity for networking, flexibility and constructive thinking. They are expected to stand out from the pack in a positive way.
Five GCE 'O' level passes (Grade 1 to 6) including English as a first language;
Other qualifications will be assessed based on the equivalence to GCE ‘O’ level examinations.
Applicants who do not meet the academic requirement might be recommended to undergo a 6-month Management Foundation Studies (MFS) programme.
For International Applicants (Full-time programme only)
International applicants will be assessed on the qualification's equivalent to the GCE 'O' level examinations.

English Language Requirement
- GCE ‘O’ level pass in English (as a first language); or
- IELTS with an overall score of at least 5.5; or
- TOEFL score of at least 550 (paper-based) plus 4 in the Test of Written English (TWE); or
- An equivalent English language qualification.
Applicants who do not meet the English language requirement would need to undergo the Certificate in English Language Upper Intermediate (Level 5) (CEL) programme prior to enrolment in the Diploma programme.
The duration of the CEL programme depends on the applicant’s English language proficiency level.
Applicants can sit for an English Placement Test conducted by SIM to determine their English language proficiency level.
1. IELTS or TOEFL test scores must be less than two years at point of enrolment.
2. The SIM English Placement Test results will be valid for one year from the date of the test.
