We have 6 levels of English from beginning to advanced to help our students meet their academic, personal, and business English goals. Students may start throughout the year, and entering students take a placement test to determine their level. Students study 5 hours per day, 5 days per week, for a total of 25 hours of English language training each week. Classes include grammar, writing, reading, listening, and speaking. The duration of each level is 7 weeks with new sessions starting every 8 weeks. What Makes Us Different Because of our small size and friendly environment, our students often say that they feel like ULI is like a family. We are a Christian school, but we welcome students from all faiths. We have chapel once a week which helps with listening skills, and we offer a field trip or special activity each session to help students learn about the culture and practice their English. Our classes are small (never more than 15 students), and we have lower prices than most schools in Oklahoma with complementary textbooks provided at no extra cost. The average student improves 13 points on iBT TOEFL (30 points for paper-based TOEFL) each session. During Fall and Spring sessions, American University students often participate in our classes and visit for speaking opportunities once a week during lunch. [-]

Oil and Gas Partnerships

University of Tulsa College of Business Administration
Campus Part time 2 days June 2017 USA Tulsa

Unlike the standard partnership tax class, this two day seminar focuses upon the specific issues encountered by oil and gas partnerships. The Federal income tax treatment of an oil and gas partnership is unique in the sense that the tax rules of subchapter K of the IRC are applied in a different manner to oil and gas exploration and production than any other type of business. This uniqueness stems from the fact that Sec. 613A requires that the basis of oil and gas property is held outside of the partnership by each partner and the partner computes depletion, gain and loss independent of the partnership.

No other extractive industry works this way. For example, coal, iron, etc. – the partnership holds the basis of the mineral property and computes gain and loss on its mineral properties and then allocates depletion, gains and losses to the partners.  This has many tangent effects that are explored by this seminar. Having to go through this maze of regulations and rules alone can be a bit confusing – after all it took the IRS over 15 years to issue final regulations under Sec. 613A – primarily because of the partnership issues.  ...
