EL CURSO La geografía espiritual de América exhibe una densidad rica y profunda, extraordinaria tanto por la variedad de sus componentes originales cuanto por los resultados de su fusión. Es por ello que, si hubiese que destacar apenas uno entre los múltiples rasgos de tal perfil éste debería ser, sin duda, el mestizaje: mestizaje de razas, de lenguas, de mitologías; mestizaje de religiones, filosofías, sistemas políticos, prácticas económicas, órdenes sociales; mestizaje de saberes científicos y esotéricos, tecnologías, gastronomías, artes y letras, arquitecturas. Mestizaje de Culturas. Este es un curso de introducción al arte y la arquitectura, diseñado especialmente para estudiantes de otras áreas académicas por lo que no es necesario tener conocimientos previos en el tema. En cada clase trataremos de aprender a “leer” las obras y poder comprender mediante el análisis que hay detrás de lo que vemos: cómo se generó la obra, en que contexto fue pensada, qué ideas representa, cuál es la historia personal de su autor y mucho más. Tendremos una clase semanal de 3 horas, dividida en dos partes (con un coffee break de 15 minutos). Durante el semestre realizaremos 2 visitas a museos, en el horario de clase. El sistema de evaluación está estructurado en 2 exámenes parciales (multiple choice) y un ensayo final que los estudiantes realizaran en las últimas dos semanas del curso. PROGRAMA 1. Las Culturas Precolombinas en Mesoamérica: Olmeca, Teotihuacán, Zapoteca, Mixteca, Maya, Tolteca, Azteca. 2. Las Culturas Precolombinas en América Andina: Chavín, Nazca, Paracas, Tiahuanaco, Mochica, Chimú, Inca. 3. El período Colonial: el Barroco mexicano (México, Puebla, Oaxaca). El Barroco peruano (Lima, Cusco, Arequipa).El Barroco brasileño (Salvador de Bahía, Río de Janeiro, Minas Gerais). 4. El período Colonial: las Misiones Jesuíticas (Argentina, Brasil, Bolivia y Paraguay) 5. El período Republicano (1810-1880). La influencia italiana. 6. Arquitectura Academicista (1880-1930). La influencia francesa. 7. Arquitectura Antiacademicista (Art Nouveau y Modernismo) 8. Neocolonial / Art Déco: una fusión entre Modernidad e Identidad 9.
