Although photography and film are separate in the minds of many theorists and critics, it is clear that today the boundaries between still and moving image diluted. Has emerged a hybrid space that permeates the artistic, experimental and commercial practice. The main objective of the course is to show the correspondences between photography and cinema throughout its history, and provide a framework of proposals that allow students to enrich their visual language and open to experimentation. This will help them articulate richer aesthetic projects formally and conceptually, and draw a singular creative profile. Photography Course And Text

GrisArt Escuela Superior de Fotografía
Campus Part time 1 month September 2017 Spain Barcelona

The course will start in each session, a series of comparative concepts to transit conjunctions of different types of photography and text, observing the operation of the interactions in the work of various authors. [+]

What is special about the combination of a photographic image with a text? In principle, the relationship will depend on the types of text and photographs that appear simultaneously. If we focus on an artistic level, gains in expressiveness the new product or, on the contrary, causes confusion? What differences and similarities are between these two means of self expression? As Michel Tournier ask, combining photography and text will not be like trying to mix water with fire? Actually we can intuit that they are both so different and so many common elements like brothers. In any case, it is intended that this is a course in a plethora of more questions than answers, as the only way to address the relationship between these two means of expression is through a constant questioning, breaking the cliches. Apparently, the function of the image is to illustrate the action taking place in the text, as this should explain what we see in the former; In other words, the image is always presented as a spatial art, front text, temporal art, in which exposure occurs, explanation and narrative. Beyond this basic complementarity relations are extended in the case of the photographic image because of its special relationship with reality. Not a picture is just a real document or a literary text just fiction. Furthermore, despite its origin pictorial, photography starts talking to finally focus space in time; and this perception is what captivated many writers since the advent of the daguerreotype. The course will start in each session, a series of comparative concepts to transit conjunctions of different types of photography and text, observing the operation of the interactions in the work of various authors. Fundamental is the practical work will be required to attendees, in the sense that they are involved in the issues raised and to make a series of short practices inside and outside the classroom....
