Applied Modeling The course introduces the essence of the Unified Modeling Language (UML). It comprises detailed description of the recent version of the language and practical recommendations how to model applied program systems. The course forms long-term competitive advantage for students. The matter is skills in ordinary programming technologies become obsolete in a year or two, but the UML is valid for decades. Knowledge Management and Semantic Technologies The course is intended for undergraduate and graduate students who study information technologies and neighbouring disciplines. The primary objective of the course is to present practical methods of knowledge capture, structuring, representation and dissemination using semantic technologies. The course begins with an overview of knowledge concept, main classifications and differences from data. It includes knowledge acquisition, knowledge structuring methods (mind mapping, concept mapping, etc), basics of knowledge representation and ontological engineering, semantic search and knowledge dissemination.
