These are part time courses running during the day and evening. Our lecturers are highly experienced printmaking practitioners offering a unique insight into the printmaking discipline. The techniques you learn will offer exciting ways to build on your skills and reinterpret existing artwork in print form. The unique characteristics of printmaking will open up a new world of image making and unlock your creative potential. Many of our experienced students came as beginners and many have developed a long-term commitment continuing at degree and MA level and also setting up their own studio. Course Overview Photo-etching is a method of etching an image into a metal plate using a light-sensitive ground. The image may come from a photograph, drawing or a printout. Over two days you will be introduced to each stage of the photo-etching process. This will include how to prepare and output images for photo-etching using PhotoShop, preparing the photo-etching plate, exposing the image, and developing, etching and printing from a zinc plate. No previous knowledge of printmaking is required however a basic knowledge of Photoshop software is a benefit. There will be a studio of fee of for the two days, this will cover disposable materials such as inks, tissue and newsprint, cleaning materials etc. However you will need to buy your own zinc, emulsion and printing paper, all of which can be purchased on site. This is a course for more advanced photographic printers, although processing film to a high quality and using alternative developers for different effects will be covered. You will learn how to print on fibre based paper to make exhibition prints using different developers and papers. [+]

We have a range of Photography courses in London at all levels. There are full time, part time and evening programmes leading to a qualification, as well as photography workshops and specialist short courses in digital photography, studio lighting, darkroom and alternative processes. Short digital and darkroom classes are suitable for beginners, but there are advanced and master class photography workshops as well. Our tutors are highly experienced photography practitioners offering a unique insight into the photographic medium. We are well resourced both in digital and analogue (traditional film) photography. Our studio has Elinchrom studio flash, Hi-Glide lighting support, radio triggers and meters. The photography digital suite has Apple Mac computers (running Photoshop), Eizo colour managed monitors and film scanners. The photography darkroom has enlargers for 35mm and medium format film and printing on resin coated as well as fibre papers, film processing and film scanners all in the same facility. Students from our courses regularly go on to higher education or become working freelance photographers, an achievement indeed in a very competitive environment.
