Postgraduate Degree in Interior Lighting Design Lighting is the tool of the interior designer which is indispensable for the definition of the project’s objectives and for giving character to the space. This discipline is often related to technical aspects and to applications from a manual. This course incorporates the project-related methodological knowledge which needs to be taken into account in an interior design project so that students can acquire the technical skills that are necessary for the functionality for which the space is intended, and so that the light is an essential variable in the project. The course consists of three modules which deal with the technical basis of lighting and the project concepts which students have to know in order to master the technical and creative skills of the interior designer so that they can guarantee a professional, high-quality response to interior design projects. GENERAL AIMS OF THE TRAINING To provide the project tools and techniques appropriate to the design of interior lighting. To develop the ability to study in depth and to reflect about the representational techniques that are most appropriate for the expression of light in the project. To increase knowledge about the technical aspects (technological resources, novelties in the market, etc.) which are necessary for the resolution of lighting projects in interior spaces. To learn the technical language, the possibilities and the technology associated with lighting. To systematically widen knowledge about advanced lighting technology. To identify and solve problems of lighting in interior spaces by detecting areas for improvement. PROGRAMME OF STUDIES Module I – Fundamentals of light and lighting technology. The culture of lighting. Module II – Lighting typologies and systems Module III – Lighting in the Interior Space-Designing Project In each module, the teachers combine one part of theoretical knowledge with another part involving its practical application. This is done using exercises. The classes are complemented by lectures from professionals in the sector, and by visits to actual sites. In the final phase of the course, work is done on the final project, which will subsequently be defended before a panel of specialized professionals. Students will have the support of a tutor, who will guide them during the preparation of the final project.
