The One Year course in Product Design is taught following a single theme approach with cycles of lessons on theory integrated with workshop exercises and subjects. In this way students can acquire the solid cultural, methodological and operative foundations and can opt to pursue their education further by applying for following a Master’s course in Industrial Design or Interior Design. CHARACTERISTICS AND AIMS The One Year Course is aimed at providing basic training for product and interior designers. This aim is achieved through a well balanced teaching programme that solidifies the necessary methodological tools for approaching a project. Topics covered in the course are included in the study plan so as to consolidate historical and cultural backgrounds and provide a conceptual framework to refer to. This includes portrayal techniques, theory and the physiology of perceived phenomena. General training, on the other hand, aims to provide the mastery of technical and technological instruments, the understanding of operative supports, and the vocabulary of product design and product systems design. Lessons are directly relevant to the requirements and skills needed for the Master’s year, which is the ideal continuation of this course. DURATION The One Year Course lasts for one academic year from October to July. Attendance is compulsory and full-time commitment is required including the participation to lessons, class exercises, visits and the individual study. [-]

The following courses are part time courses. These courses range from introductory to advanced level so whether you are a beginner, or already have some experience, we will have a course suitable for you. We have designed our courses to inspire and challenge you and develop your glass knowledge, skills and practice. Our practical approach will develop your confidence, creativity and imagination. A highly regarded postgraduate level course for designers, graduates and practising pattern cutters. Content and Structure In response to a significant industry need, this course provides an innovative and relevant training programme for potential and practising pattern cutters and designers who need to expand their experience. It is designed to enhance creativity and provide a supportive postgraduate learning environment for personal and professional development. Emphasis is placed on exploratory and versatile approaches to this craft through practical work carried out both as a group and independently. THIS PROGRAM IS TAUGHT IN SPANISH AND ENGLISH The Total Design One Year Course is carried out over one academic year, with a journey though the various disciplines of design and communication. It is aimed at those who wish to begin their training in the areas of product, interior, graphic and fashion design. Throughout the Total Design Course all the basic theoretical and practical aspects of design will be covered and projectual facets are examined through workshops and lessons, encompassing all the main subjects for the professional exercise of design and project culture. The IED Madrid is a space for training, research and innovation where students work on creative and multidisciplinary projects, forming part of teams at companies. The academic year culminates with a project in the form of a competition. In this case it will be for the firm Tetra Pak andGlenfiddich. In previous editions, students have worked with companies such as MUJI, HOSS Intropia, Skunkfunk, VANS, Hendricks, Alvarno, Baruc Corazón, and The Art Company. The Total Design One Year Courses are given in English and Spanish. During the first semester training is given separately in each language, where Spanish students receive English classes and vice versa. In the second semester the course is taught jointly. The Course in Total Design is aimed at those who want to embark on their design studies. It is divided into three areas: fashion design, product design and graphic design, which culminate with the production of a final transverse project.
