The main objective of the course is to bring students to achieve good communication skills in Portuguese, with success. This means that not only will be taught the grammar and vocabulary, but also listening, reading, writing and oral production, whether in formal or colloquial contexts. An introduction to the Brazilian way of life, customs and social mores, politics and culture is also an important part of the lessons. Classes are divided as follows: grammatical structures (25 %), understanding and writing (25 %), comprehension and oral production (30%) and technical vocabulary (20 %). DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES The furniture design course is a practical experience of creating furniture, covering all the necessary process, with occasional interventions of professionals from different areas and encouraging interaction between students. The projects will be developed in collaboration with MMM (My Mobile Madeira), Company's sustainable furniture industry founded in 2006, segment hitherto unheard of in Brazil. According to an agreed briefing with the company, the student will develop a project starting from the observation of users to define the needs, frame the problem and find a solution. Following the manufacturing methods compatible with the reality and seeking to enrich them with new experiences, techniques and materials. The course provides a laboratory for manufacturing and testing of the prototypes during the development of the project and in collaboration with the MMM, a final prototype will be developed. This is an exercise in developing ideas, concepts and solutions for a new way of thinking about furniture. Along the way, students develop a product and mainly go a process for producing creative solutions applicable to more complex future challenges.
