FdSc Veterinary Nursing Science Degree The aim of the degree course is to incorporate the study of a Veterinary Nursing Foundation Degree with the RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons) Veterinary Nursing qualification. FdSc Veterinary Nursing Science is offered as a 3 year full-time programme incorporating the RCVS Veterinary Nursing Occupational Standards. Upon successful completion of the FdSc Veterinary Nursing Science, 60 weeks work placement and achievement of the Nursing Progress Log, graduates can register as Veterinary Nurses. Teaching and Learning The course is based on a firm science foundation and specialist nursing and related units develop skills and understanding of the sector. This will allow you to progress into the world of work in/or related to veterinary nursing or onto the final year of an appropriate BSc (Hons) programme. Throughout the course you will benefit from insights into various veterinary related industries through visits, guest speakers and work placements. The course incorporates a combination of lectures, laboratory practicals, practical work in veterinary practice, guided and independent work. You will be assessed through coursework, including laboratory investigations, assignments and presentations. All elements of the RCVS Professional Syllabus will be assessed through closed book examinations. During the programme, you will have the opportunity (subject to demand) to participate in animal training and behaviour, large animal handling and a dangerous wild animal handling certificated course.
