Course - Fashion Illustration

This course aims to help one express ideas and concepts through skilful diversied illustration techniques in dierent medium including rendering of fabric prints, textures, designs and how the fabric drape on the fashion silhouette.


 
Course Leader


Farah Jones is a Singapore born fashion designer who has been working in the international fashion industry for over 12 years. She has a first class Honors BA Degree in fashion design from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technolgy (RMIT). Farah’s list of professional accomplishments range from designing a wide array of women’s and children’s wear for many new boutiques and large design companies around the world, to managing, buying, marketing and merchandising for retail giants like Esprit, Laura Ashley, Prada, Jean Paul Gaultier and Dolce & Gabbana.


Farah was previously employed by Raffes Design Institute (Shanghai), where she taught Fashion Design and Fashion Production courses to up and coming young designers in the industry. She combines her love for fashion and teaching by taking a hands-on approach to her classes, teaching new and innovative concepts to those who want to be part of the enticing fashion world. She is dedicated to teaching her students how to be true fashion professionals.

    •    Render Drapes, Falls & Folds on Dressed Silhouette with Soft Pencil

    •    Observing Light & Shadow in Soft Pencil



Lesson 3:
 Black & Grey Markers Demo


    •    Rapid sketch of Tops, Jackets, Skirts & Pants on Silhouette

    •    Express Drapes, Falls & Folds movement on Silhouette with Black Outlines

    •    Observing Light & Shadow in Black & Grey Markers



Lesson 4:
 Colour Pencils Demo

    •    Introduction to rendering of dierent Fabrics, Prints & Textures

    •    Designing for dierent Category of Garments

    •    Research & Developing on Colour Pencil Illustration

    •    Versatility of using Grey Marker as shadow


Lesson 5: Colour Pencils Demo

    •    Introduction to rendering of dierent Fabrics, Prints & Textures

    •    Research & Developing on Colour Pencil Illustration

 Colour Markers

Lesson 8:
 Presentation Submission

Pre-Requisite


Particpants interested in this course is not required to have attended basic Figure Drawing for Fashion course. A template for figure drawing will be given to facilitate posture drawing. Those 16 years of age and above may apply.
