Cognitive Behavioural Studies & Skills (not a license for practice), Advanced University Diploma
There are only a handful of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) qualifications available, and few of them can be taken online. This is a convenient, 1 year introduction to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy that fits around your busy working life.
It’s the first step towards becoming an accredited cognitive behavioural psychotherapist, or just a perfect entry level course to help you learn more about this fascinating area of therapy. This qualification alone will not give you a licence to practice but may help you to decide if this is a career you wish to pursue.
Whatever your role, it’s the ideal introduction to CBP
A diverse range of people take this course, which makes for more interesting class discussions and debates. You will usually have a nursing or social work background and will need a related qualification, but you might be an aspiring therapist or counsellor, or already have years of experience in such a role. If you want to work towards becoming an accredited cognitive behavioural therapist, this will count as one of the four years of training required.
An online course, but there’s plenty of opportunities to practice
You might be surprised to learn that CBT can be studied online. But in fact we use innovative methods to help you get that all important opportunity to practice and receive feedback. For instance you’ll be asked to conduct and video a ‘mock’ therapy session with a friend and our experienced tutors – themselves qualified counsellors and psychotherapists – can assess how well you did. So in many ways it’s a ‘safe’, less daunting environment in which to learn.
Studying online gives you the flexibility to study at the most convenient time and place for you. Course modules still operate within a fixed semester or term time, but you can choose to study during the day, in the evenings or at the weekend rather than having to attend fixed lectures.
