The Hospitality and Tourism Management Certificate includes 2 semesters of academic study followed by up to one year of paid work experience (OPT-Optional Practical Training). The program is designed to learn concepts and principles of American hotel and tourism management. Courses focus on customer service best practices, professional conduct and overall operations of hotels and restaurants. Professors incorporate lectures, presentations, case studies and writing to ensure an understanding of hospitality terminology and principles.
Courses require students to attend lectures, small group discussions, analyses and research for at least 18 hours per week, Monday through Thursday. This teaching method includes field trips, guest lectures, small group discussions and other experiential learning modalities that enhance practice and retention. Weekly assignments are designed to develop and instill students with confidence in their soft skills through oral presentations, team projects and discussions.
Students will have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge through hands-on, professional experience during 12 months of paid optional practical training (OPT) in some of the best hotels in the United States. Vatel enjoys a privileged relationship with some of the largest upscale hotel and restaurant chains in the USA and can count on its network of Vatel alumni worldwide.
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
- Minimum English proficiency for international students is as follows: A qualifying oral interview is sufficient.
