Certificate IV in Audiovisual Technology

Learn the broad skills of the audiovisual industry including lighting, sound, TV production, design, installation and event management while working on real-life productions and events around Melbourne.

Program structure

In this program you’ll learn practical, technical and operational skills both at RMIT and in industry in order to work in event production companies, audiovisual (AV) installations, educational settings and broadcast television. These skills include:

  • lighting
  • sound
  • TV production
  • AV design
  • AV installation
  • event management.

This program runs over 2 years (4 semesters) and consists of the Certificate IV (year 1) and the Diploma (year 2).

Certificate IV in Audiovisual Technology

You'll gain skills in:

  • audiovisual production
  • equipment maintenance
  • location lighting
  • practical placement
  • television studio production
  • video and presentation equipment operation.

Entry requirements

You must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 50%.

Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary Diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.

Selection tasks

You may be required to be interviewed, either in person or via phone/Skype.

English language requirements:

To study this program you will need to complete the Academic IELTS with an overall band of 5.5 and no individual band below 5.0.
