Associate Degree in Information Technology
This 2-year program is designed to develop the knowledge and technical skills essential for work in the IT industry.
As well as providing you with practical, industry-current IT courses, this Associate Degree also provides you with a pathway into a relevant bachelor program to further strengthen your analytical and practical skills.
Through a blend of theory and hands-on practical courses you'll develop a broad-based range of skills in:
- computer hardware
- human computer interaction
- operating systems administration
- web computing.
You will complete the vocational training for the Cisco Certified Networking Associate certificate and also the training required for the CompTIA A+ certification - both industry-recognised employable skills.
Laboratory work is a major component with learning activities focused on practical application of technical skills. You'll be assessed on technical competence both in practice and theory.
This program will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to successfully manage IT operations, particularly for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Graduates are prepared for a career specialising in system administration, networking, technical support, computer programming, web development or database administration, software development and IT security.
Program entry requirements
You must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 50%.
Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.
English language requirements
To study this program you will need to complete one of the following English proficiency tests:
- Academic IELTS overall band of 6.0 with no individual band below 5.5
- TOEFL (Paper-based): minimum score of 550 (with a Test of Written English (TWE) score of 4.0)
- TOEFL (Internet-based): minimum score of 79 with a minimum of 19 in each section
- Cambridge English (Advanced CAE): CAE Grade C
- Pearson: Minimum score of 50 (no band less than 42).
