This course is offered at Central's state of the art recording studios which has its own performance venue complete with lighting and sound facilities. The lecturers at Central are highly experienced in technical music production and students will be able to gain an insight into all aspects of the music industry and take advantage of their networks with other industry figures. Throughout the course students will develop the skills required for recording, production and live sound operation.
Other aspects of the course include equipment management and maintenance, multi-track recording techniques, digital sound editing and how to mix bands in a live production environment. Students will also learn foundation acoustic theory and progress through to working on recording projects using a range of industry standard equipment.
Students must complete a total number of 15 units which comprise of 4 core units plus 11 elective units. Core units are:
- Manage projects
- Ensure a safe workplace
- Apply music knowledge and artistic judgement
- Manage production of sound recordings
