This course prepares students for work in the games industry. Students learn the 3D art pipeline for games, how to articulate and pitch ideas, develop design documentation skills, how to use and write code, and test and debug products to produce game prototypes and core game play demonstrations. Students will also learn skills in:

  • 3D character modelling and rigging
  • Interactive 3D environment creation
  • Concept art & storytelling
  • Animation for games
  • Level design and gameplay
  • Rapid prototyping
  • Game marketing and business
  • Deploying a game
  • Interface design

Units

Students must complete a total number of 12 Core units. Core units are:

  • Build advanced user interface
  • Create environments and props for games
  • Design levels and gameplay
  • Develop a marketing plan
  • Develop storylines and treatments
  • Extend expertise in a specialised art form to professional level
  • Extend professional expertise with drawing and other visual representation tools
  • Implement sound designs
  • Model, texture and rig 3d characters
  • Produce character performance animation
  • Produce game states
  • Produce rapid prototypes
