Advanced Diploma of Accounting
Improve your career prospects in your current accounting role or prepare for further studies by completing compulsory specialist courses at Diploma and Advanced Diploma level.
If you successfully complete the Certificate IV in Accounting, you can meet the minimum educational requirements for registered tax agent and BAS services set by the National Tax Practitioners Board.
Year 12 applicants typically apply for the Certificate IV and complete the suite of 3 programs in 1.5 years full-time.
Non-Year 12 applicants with prior skills, knowledge, experience or qualifications in accounting or similar can apply for recognition of prior learning (RPL), or do 1 of the 3 programs depending on needs and experience.
Note: Each qualification level is a new enrolment in a new program. Your eligibility for a government-subsidised place will be assessed before you enrol in each new program, and these results will determine the fees You will pay.
You will extend your knowledge of complex tax and corporate governance matters, develop financial strategies and plans, and learn about the provision and evaluation of business performance information.
Graduates find work in all fields of industry and commerce like financial institutions, retail stores and other businesses.
They're employed in accounting, accounting-support or accounting technician roles and take responsibility for recording and compiling summaries of financial transactions for management purposes.
Advanced Diploma graduates can become a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) with further study.
Accountants are either employed by commercial and industrial enterprises or in public accounting firms. Public accountants are often self-employed or work in partnership with other accountants.
You must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 or an equivalent senior secondary school qualification with a minimum average of 50%.
Equivalent qualifications may also include completion of the RMIT Foundation Studies program or a recognised post secondary Diploma in the relevant discipline with the required grades.
English language requirements:
To study this program you will need to complete the Academic IELTS with an overall band of 5.5 and no individual band below 5.0.
